Types of Braces

Metal Braces

metal_color.pngMetal braces are made of high-quality, durable stainless steel. They are the most common type of braces. The brackets, which are bonded to the front of each tooth, are connected by the archwire, which helps guide the teeth into the correct positions. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.

Gold Braces

Ceramic Braces

clear.pngCeramic braces move teeth just as efficiently as metal braces, except the brackets are clear, so they are less noticeable. They are most popular with adult patients due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawbacks to ceramic brackets are that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.

Empower®

EmpowerEmpower is a series of self-ligating braces that offer several benefits for patients. They use a self-ligation technique using lighter wires and lower-friction brackets to move teeth, while resulting in faster treatment time due to the slide mechanism; the strong, mechanical base bonding; and the solid walls structured to control tooth movement with speed and efficiency. In addition to greater comfort, self-ligating braces make it easier to maintain good hygiene because they are easier to keep clean. This contributes to greater health, happiness and physical attractiveness for the patient for the duration of treatment.

Beyond these benefits, however, Empower is unique in that it is the first self-ligating brace system to offer both active and passive archwire clips, allowing your orthodontist unprecedented precision control and the fastest possible treatment time!

Invisalign®

invisalign.pngThe Invisalign system is a series of clear overlay templates – called aligners – that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult patients with certain orthodontic bite problems. Ask us if you are a candidate for the Invisalign system.
